9. Steel casting

Continuous casting is by far the most widespread liquid steel casting process in the steel industry (in France, the rate exceeded 96% in 1990).

9.1 Smoke collection

Some continuous casting plants processing leaded steels are equipped with fume extraction systems, both at the tundish and at the flame-cutting stage. The reason for this is to protect personnel.
