3. Main system types

3.1 Channelless system

The simplest is made up of a basin and one or more vertical conduits of reduced cross-section, or pencils, acting as attacks (figure 1 ).

This type of system is used exclusively for direct-drop casting of alloys considered to have little or no oxidizability in the liquid state.
