4.1 Flow staging and distribution

Considered in isolation, the main advantage of scaling is that it enables rapid calculation of the main cross-sections of a system, once one of them has been determined. This is most often the cross-section S _d of the runner, considered to be the characteristic cross-section of the system.

However, we can say that if the scaling is convergent, i.e. if : $1 > \frac{S_{c}}{S_{d}} > \frac{S_{a}}{S_{d}}$
