1.1 Issues
When considering handwriting in the broadest sense, it is important to distinguish between the different levels of difficulty associated with handwriting pattern recognition, depending on the nature of the problem being addressed. Figure 1 categorizes the different types of problem dealt with, ordering them by increasing levels of difficulty in terms of automatic handwriting recognition.
