5. Conclusion
The automatic recognition of handwriting and handwritten lines in general now makes it possible to analyze, understand, interpret and transcribe "literally" the actions performed freehand by the user. It is then the computer that produces the interpretation effort, freeing the user from the traditional constraints of communication with the machine: the user can remain focused on the creative process associated with producing his document.
Optimizing the performance of recognition systems and the ergonomics associated with applications based on handwritten or gestural interaction are at the heart of today's research into the written word.
