6. ISO/IEC 15504 standard

6.1 Context

This set of standards was published by AFNOR between September and December 1998 under the title "ISO/SPICE – Software process evaluation". The ISO/SPICE standard has benefited from the contributions of several sector-specific models (telecommunications, CMM, Bootstrap, etc.).

Initially developed by Pittsburg's SEI (Software Engineering Institute) to select suppliers for the US Department of Defense, the CMMCapability Maturity Model favors a distributed process approach.

Bootstrap is a model developed by a European project to evaluate and improve software processes.
