3.1 Sampling frequencies
Recall the normalized values of the sampling frequencies determined previously:
for Y luminance: 13.5 MHz ;
for each color component C R and C B : 6.75 MHz.
Sampling cannot be carried out under good conditions without filtering adapted to the desired application. It is therefore necessary to know the filters that will precede it. Recommendation ITU-R BT.601-5 gives the characteristics of luminance and chrominance signal filters.
Subjective test results on natural images gave a score of 4.5/5 for 4.5 MHz in luminance...
