7.1 L2TP over ATM Adaptation Layer 5 (AAL5)
As a packet-oriented connection, ATM allows the use of the L2TP protocol for point-to-point connections. L2TP tunneling over ATM is equivalent to setting up an ATM virtual circuit (permanent or on-demand).
