5. Service Quality

As shown in figure 3 , there are two transmission channels for L2TP messages: one reliable, the other unreliable. Unlike data messages, control messages are sent on the reliable channel, as they must be received by the other end. This is made possible by an implicit acknowledgement mechanism based on a sequence number.
