
1. Electromagnetic circuit with air gaps
1.1 Structure and approach
An electromagnet with two air gaps (figure 1 ) is excited by a coil concentric with the central column. The relative permeability of the iron is μ r .
The aim of the study is to determine the induction in each air gap for a current I flowing in a winding of N turns.
In the example shown in figure 1 , NI = 1200 A.
