1. Graphic symbols for electrical diagrams

Most of these symbols are standardized in the database managed by the IEC, which relies on the work of TC3, responsible both for establishing the information model needed to operate the database and for the standardization process. Gradually, the database, derived from paper publications, became the standard. So, for each symbol, in addition to its reference number in a given publication (e.g. 03-01-06 "flexible connection" for symbol No. 6 in section 1 of part 3 of IEC publication 60617), there is now an identification number in the database (e.g. S 00006 for the same symbol).

Such a structure not only enables rapid access, but also improved maintenance. The content of the database is derived from that of IEC 60617, Graphical symbols for schematics, restructured and enhanced with additional elements.
