2. Structural design
As part of the introduction of European standards, the safety approach to structural design and calculation has been reviewed:
for wood products: based on harmonized European standards, sometimes supplemented by national standards (a non-exhaustive list is given in the documentation section of this article);
for calculation: based on standards known as Eurocodes.
The Eurocodes set of calculation rules aims to harmonize construction techniques in Europe, i.e. the design of structures and their compliance with essential requirements, as well as the free circulation of construction products.
