Corrosion; corrosion

Corrosion is a physico-chemical interaction between a metallic material and its surrounding environment, leading to changes in the metal's properties and potentially to significant degradation of the function of the metal, the surrounding environment or the technical system of which they are a part.

strain hardening

The term work-hardening is used to designate an operation that transforms the mechanical properties of metal (rolling, drawing, soaking and forging). As soon as the stress exceeds the elastic limit, the metal undergoes plastic deformation, which is permanent.
