4. The different types of ruins

Depending on the load on the anchors and the geometric conditions of the support, different failure modes are possible. When dimensioning an anchor, it is important to check which mode of failure is the most important, in order to determine the resistance of the fastener to this mode of failure.

According to standard NF EN 1992-4, there are 6 modes of failure in tension and 4 in shear.
