In a general sense, any raw material containing fillers can be referred to as a composite. However, in this treatise, this term is currently reserved for materials comprising a reinforcement in filamentary form
Concrete made from aggregates and cement paste and reinforced concrete are considered as composite materials in civil engineering.
The former is a composite material made up of two complementary, immiscible elements.
