5.1 Replacing metal sheets with carbon fibers

In civil engineering, the 1950-1980 period was followed by a phase of consolidation. The mass construction of engineering structures, large buildings and industrial facilities has given way to maintenance operations, which often require structural reinforcement. There are many examples of such operations, whether to repair damaged structures or simply to comply with increasingly stringent codes.

To date, among the types of reinforcement used, external bonding of metal plates using the L'Hermite process [4][5] is one of the most widespread in the world, due to the advantages it offers
