1. Power boilers

The term "power boiler" stems from the field of application of boilers in large thermal power plants. Until the 1980s, the term was used to describe large boilers with radiant furnaces and oil, gas or pulverized coal burners. Recent decades have seen the rise of fluidized beds, combined cycles with recovery boilers and the virtual disappearance of large-capacity oil- or gas-fired boilers.
