4. Recovery boilers
A recovery boiler recovers the sensible enthalpy contained in a gas or liquid flow. Given the importance of natural gas fuel and the use of gas turbines, combined-cycle and cogeneration recovery boilers are particularly important among recovery boilers. However, there are also a wide variety of applications in the process industries and in solar thermodynamics, with specific design criteria.
4.1 Design and calculation features
In the simplest case, a recovery boiler consists of three exchangers as shown in the diagram 33 .
