16. Overall cost of main sites

They could be built between 2025 and 2060 and reach 15 GW/year.

They total more than 1,600 TWh/year and have a unit output of between 10 and 50 TWh/year. On average, they have a capacity of 8 to 10 GW, generating 30 TWh/year. Such an investment is worth around twenty billion euros, comparable to the cost of large hydroelectric schemes or three nuclear reactors. Some twenty hydroelectric schemes already generate between 10 and 50 TWh/year each.

The cost of fitting out includes :

  • the cost of the main dikes, which for these large sites are on average around 2 km/TWh long. The corresponding cost per MWh, according to the example of the Baie de Somme (§
