13. Potential in France
The potential had been estimated at almost 100 TWh/year, limited to areas with tidal ranges in excess of 5 or 6 m. The proposed new solution allows us to increase production in these areas, and also to plan developments in areas with lower tidal ranges, and even on the Atlantic coast. The economic potential is therefore 150 TWh/year, which can be combined with significant wind generation.
A wide variety of layouts can be envisaged outside the Somme, for example :
the very large Chausey development, a route of which is proposed in figure 9 for around 40 TWh/year;
