4. Stationary storage combined with solar or wind generation

4.1 Decentralized storage

Decentralized storage involves including a storage medium in a renewable energy production plant.

In a solar power plant, coupling between the storage system and the solar generator can take place on an "AC bus" (alternating current) or on a "DC bus" (direct current).

The DC bus solution (figure 8 ) involves connecting the battery and solar array to a common DC voltage point via several DC/DC converters, then using a single DC/AC converter between the DC bus and the step-up transformer.
