6.1 Use of electric vehicle batteries
In a few years' time, most electric car manufacturers will have a very large stock of Li-ion batteries.
Considering that an electric vehicle battery has a capacity of around 40 kWh and that 80% of this capacity will be available at the end of the vehicle's life (around after 5 years of use), around 40 GWh of second-life batteries will be available worldwide by 2020, ten times more than the stationary battery storage capacity installed in 2016
