8. Concept performance for a nuclear power plant

To understand the respective merits of different assembly concepts, we need to compare them for the same service. To do this, the following table 10 shows the characteristics of nuclear power plants with an installed capacity of 60 GWe, balanced in terms of Pu production. In other words, the Pu production of some reactors fuelled with LEU fuel is offset by the consumption of other reactors fuelled with Pu fuel. The Pu balance of these fleets is therefore zero.
