Read the articleINTRODUCTION
The term nano-optics and, more commonly, nanophotonics refers to a very active field of research in which the aim is to control and shape optical fields on sub-wavelength scales to produce new optical or optoelectronic components. The main expected spin-offs concern optical telecommunications, visualization systems, biomedical imaging and optical interconnections at the frontier between electronic circuits and optics. It's important to stress that, while nanophotonics benefits from micro-nanotechnologies, it is also a powerful driving force behind their development. This is one of the aspects we aim to illustrate in this dossier.
