1. Bending test

Unlike the destructive tests presented in the previous article [BM 7 792] , which were applicable to base metals and welded assemblies, bend tests are specific to welded assemblies. They can be used to identify the presence of surface or near-surface defects and, in some cases, to assess changes in ductility in the molten zone or in the zone affected by temperature following the welding operation. There are several types of bend test on butt-welded specimens, the main ones being :
