Finite element numerical modeling is now widely used in material forming . Continuous improvements in computing power and numerical techniques have made it possible to model increasingly complex processes. Despite this, the modeling of self-pierce riveting is still largely unexplored, as it requires the consideration of a number of phenomena that are complex to address from a numerical point of view.
