5. Coatings

Substrate coatings are sometimes necessary when brazing materials that are metallurgically incompatible with a common filler alloy, or when joining materials of the same grade. .

Coatings with different properties and functionalities are then deposited on the substrates to ensure the brazed joint's mechanical strength, watertightness, corrosion resistance and so on. These coatings perform functions both before and during assembly.
