5. Coupling, a tool for predictive maintenance

A company's strategy increasingly includes predictive maintenance of its machinery. The coupling between the motor and the production tool can be a predictive maintenance component.

Some couplings allow real-time measurement of transmitted torque. Other systems allow measurement of the angular deformation of the coupling (figure 30 ).
