1. Functions

To constitute this unit, the crankcase must fulfill a number of functions.

  • The housing must have surfaces designed to receive the connecting components that will ensure the continuity of the kinematic chain, which it brings into position. It must therefore meet certain geometric requirements.

  • The housing must allow the assembly of all the parts it contains. It can be made in several parts, with flat and/or cylindrical connecting surfaces. Careful attention must be paid to their dimensioning (long or short connections implying distinct geometrical properties).

  • The casing is the link between the mechanism and its environment. It contains :

    • rigid dismountable connections, using bolts,...
