1. 3-cylinder in-line engine

Today, 3-cylinder in-line engines are widely used by carmakers for their low and mid-range ranges. This type of engine is attractive for its mass, compactness, fuel consumption and cost. It also has a number of disadvantages, particularly in terms of acoustics, due to its genetically more pronounced acyclism than that of the 4-cylinder engine.

1.1 3-cylinder engine crankshaft

The crankshaft of the 3-cylinder engine is quite conventional. The crankpins are offset by 2π/3, as shown in figure 1 .
