The concept of sustainable development has its origins in the Club of Rome's first "Stop Growth" report in 1972, which highlighted the impact of economic growth on environmental degradation in the face of increasing pollution, the depletion of non-renewable resources and the overexploitation of natural systems [7] . This observation was echoed the same year at the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm. At the end of this summit, the participating states adopted a solemn declaration defining "a common understanding and shared principles which will inspire and guide the efforts of the peoples of the world to preserve and improve the environment" [8] . This gave rise to the concept of ecodevelopment, or how to reconcile human development...
