1.1 General employer obligations
According to European Directive 89/391 of June 12, 1989 on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work: "The employer is obliged to ensure the safety and health of workers in all aspects related to work". In application of this directive, which has been transposed into the French Labor Code, employers have a number of legal obligations.
Article L. 4121-1 of the French Labour Code
"The employer shall take the necessary measures to ensure the safety and protect the physical and mental health of workers. These measures include :
