9. OPPBTP

Since 1947, the building and public works sector, a high-risk business with a high accident rate on temporary and mobile sites, has had a joint organization: the Organisme professionnel de prévention du bâtiment et des travaux publics (OPPBTP). All companies in the sector are required to join this organization. The OPPBTP employs 332 people, including engineers, technicians and safety representatives with free access to worksites and companies. It implements a policy of prevention, information and advice for companies in the sector (French Labor Code, article L. 4643-2). Companies with at least 50 employees are still required to set up a CHSCT.
