4.1 Risk components
The next step is to assess the risks due to these hazards, using all their components, with the aim of evaluating and, if necessary, prioritizing them, in order to identify and prioritize the measures to be taken.
In line with the definition of risk, this assessment must take into account the severity of the hazard and the probability of a hazardous event occurring. As this risk concerns people, we must also consider their vulnerability to the hazard. It is a combination of these three characteristics that will enable us to assess the criticality level of the occupational risk, i.e. its importance.
