3. Packaging and consumption or what do buyers/users want?
It's because packaging strategy takes insufficient account of consumer expectations that eight out of ten product launches are currently failures. Consumers, who are difficult to analyze because they are versatile, opportunistic and well-informed, are evolving, and packaging needs to adapt and better anticipate these changes.
Initially, only the buyer's characteristics were sufficiently taken into account. Then, manufacturers tried to appreciate the individual as a whole, and added characteristics linked to the needs of the end-user. This is how packaging ergonomics, functionality, handling, opening, closing, storage and practicality came to be analyzed.
And finally, it's for the citizen, who is aware of environmental problems, that new regulations and obligations have been introduced.
