5. Activities concerned by reverse logistics
The main activities concerned by reverse logistics are those involving the collection of end-of-life, damaged, unsold or expired products. These products may be consumer goods or packaging. Then there are activities such as sorting, disassembling, cleaning, reconditioning, and so on.
These activities are given by way of example; indeed, in some cases, the product may not be dismantled if, for example, it has never been used (unsold product, customer return still in packaging...). If this is the case, the manufacturer can redirect the product to another retailer who needs it. This solution is obviously less expensive than keeping the return and manufacturing an identical product. If, on the other hand, the product does not meet the quality requirements of the initial market, it can be exported to another market (foreign country).
