5. Horizontal guides
The runway consists of a beam (H-profile or similar) which rests on two successive building columns and supports the running rail.
The running rail can be made of rolled steel squares or rectangles welded to the beam, or of special sections (Vignole or Burbach rails, see figure 6 ); these rails are usually clamped in place.
