5. Accessories

Manufactured by specialists, they do not fall within the competence of crane manufacturers.

Ropes are used on hoisting and lifting winches and are designated by: their rated load (in t), their diameter (in mm) and their length (in m); for example, hoisting rope 3T - D15 - 150 m.

ISO 4308 provides a method for selecting cables for cranes.

The Machinery Safety Directive 89/392/EEC requires a coefficient of at least 5 between the rated working load and the minimum breaking load of the rope.

— The lifting cable should be flexible and non-rotating.

— For hoisting rope, use a non-rotating rope without swivel, as the reeving is high (10 to 50 strands), the rope remains permanently installed, and the service factor is low.
