1.1 Traceability concept

The industrial company is the site of a thousand product transformations that are tracked, transformed, assembled, moved... Elements and components, sub-assemblies, assemblies... Where do they come from? Where do they go? What has been done with them? How were all these raw materials and components transformed into finished products meeting specifications and standards? How were they delivered?

It is up to the traceability system to identify products, production batches and shipping units, to establish reliable links between identification codes, from upstream to downstream, to record information linked to product identifiers, and to communicate the minimum information required to partners.
