5. Middleware information system

As we have seen, a traceability solution is a response to a need placed in an environment. The company's information system is an element of complexity not to be overlooked, as new data is generated, sometimes in abundance if automatic capture tools are put in place.

Multi-faceted traceability involving identification, authentication and localization further increases this complexity, thanks to the diversity of information types and sources.

To filter, pre-process and validate information, and to format it for interfacing with the information system, a software layer is required: middleware.
