6. Choice of treatment

6.1 Selection criteria

The choice of the optimum treatment depends, in decreasing order of importance, on :

  • the history of operating incidents in the steam production unit;

  • feed water quality: softened or osmosis water;

  • food water temperature ;

  • the use, food or other, of the steam produced;

  • existing equipment ;

  • condensate return rate and quality: air intake, if any?

  • the concentration of carbon dioxide in the steam.
