6. Treatments to inhibit bacterial growth and biofilms

Whatever the type of cooling circuit, whatever the nature of the make-up water, the biocidal treatments are the same:

  • Biocides must be selected from those authorized by law;

  • treatments must comply with the regulations specific to each industry concerning discharge standards;

  • treatments must ensure that heat exchange is maintained;

  • treatments must not increase corrosion.

The authorized treatments are :

  • oxidizing treatments :

    • using chemicals,

    • thanks to oxidant generators ;

  • treatments based on organic biocides...
