6. Conclusion
Without going into the practical details of its implementation, this article shows how health risk assessment (HRA) is used in various approaches to preventing health risks associated with toxic substances emitted into the environment.
While the methodological principles remain the same, the preliminary characterization of sources, environments and populations, and the analysis of results, vary according to context and objectives.
Feedback from experience and guides published in recent years (MEDD 2007, INERIS 2011 and 2013) recommend that we take greater account of the context and issues surrounding the sites or facilities under study. With this in mind, the HRA is part of an approach that integrates all relevant data and several methodological tools.
