3. Consultation categories
3.1 Different types of consultation
There are two main types of consultation provided for in the Environment Code:
prior" consultation (art. L. 121-16 of the Env. Code) for certain projects, plans or programs subject to environmental assessment. It provides an opportunity to discuss the opportunity, objectives and main features of the project, or the objectives and main orientations of the plan or program, the related socio-economic issues and their significant impact on the environment and regional development. Where appropriate, it can be used to discuss alternative solutions, including, in the case of a project, its non-implementation.
