4. Risk management principles

ISO 31000, entitled "Risk management, principles and guidelines", was published in January 2010. Previously, everyone had their own diagram describing the phases and stages of risk management. Since this is now a standard, we'll be relying heavily on its recommendations in what follows. The quotations and diagrams below are taken from the standard.

4.1 Risk management scope

In accordance with the standard, and as announced in our introduction, we will refer to risk management in this section. The use of the singular reflects the desire to implement a management system whose ultimate aim is to control all risks, whatever their nature.
