1. Biofilter modeling
In a biofilter, biomass and water are considered to be immobile in the reactor. In fact, water is brought into the reactor to humidify the lining, meet the needs of the bacteria and compensate for any evaporation by the flow of unsaturated air . Of all bioprocesses, biofilters are the most widely used, and models based on them have been the subject of the largest number of studies to date. The following is a description of one of the oldest conventional models, which, due to its simplicity and simplifying assumptions, remains one of the most widely used.
