4. Conclusions. Outlook

Without being exhaustive, various perspectives on the – simulation modeling aspect of air treatment bioprocesses can be put forward:

  • A more detailed approach to material transfer and diffusion coefficients is needed to better reflect reality;

  • biological phenomena must be better understood and integrated into the kinetic equations of pollutant transformation;

  • the complexity of the gas mixtures to be treated needs to be better taken into account. In most of the models developed, only one major and/or target pollutant is considered, whereas in the case of olfactory nuisances, a large number of compounds and their possible interactions need to be integrated into the modelling equations of the purification process;
