4. Regional impacts: risks to health and ecosystems
Regional atmospheric pollution refers to pollution situations that occur in areas several dozen to several hundred kilometers from urban or industrial zones. They are manifested in particular by the phenomena of acid rain and photochemical pollution.
4.1 Acid rain
The term acid rain refers to the deposition of acidifying species on the ground: wet deposition of pollutants incorporated into precipitation (rain, snow, fog, etc.), dry deposition of gases and particles.
