3. Parameters influencing the choice of assembly

Having studied the materials typically used in multi-layer structures, we now turn to the parameters involved in choosing the materials to be joined (figure 2 ). It can be estimated that around ten main parameters come into play:

  • customer's packaging machine: machine manufacturer, output, type of filling, type of folding, sealing... ;

  • delivery method: packaging in reels, sheets, pre-cut lids, pre-formed sachets... ;

  • marketing aspect: type of printing, matt or gloss, feel, metallic appearance, print quality... ;

  • opening: easy opening,...
