4. Integrating attrition into a grinding process
In principle, an attrition system can incorporate a shredding diagram at various points. The final position and dimensions of the attrition unit will depend solely on customer requirements. In the field, applications focus on two models. The first integration model is illustrated in figure 6 a. Downstream of the flour collection auger, a variable quantity of flour is bypassed to an attrition unit and reintroduced into the main stream after processing. To adjust the process precisely to the desired water absorption rate of the finished product, the water absorption rate (30 to 40% higher than the initial rate) is checked in advance with the farinogram.
